The Islamic Movement in Nigeria under the guardianship of His Eminence Allama Shaikh Ibraheem Zakzaky (H) will commemorate the first annual anniversary of the Zaria Quds Day massacre.
It would be recalled that on July 25, 2014, armed military attacked peaceful procession of the International Quds Day called by the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, at the end of which 34 people, including 3 sons of Shaikh Zakzaky, were brutally tortured and murdered. Over a hundred others were injured.
In a statement signed by the spokeman of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria Ibrahim Usman and made available to the newsmen said the leader of the Movement Shaikh Zakzaky are expected to address the event which will take place on Thursday (23/07/2015) in the morning at the Jannatu Darir-Rahma cemetery, Zaria.
Other speakers during the occasion according to him include Professor Dahiru Yahya of Bayero University Kano and wife of the leader of the movement Malama Zeenatuddeen Ibraheem Zakzaky.
Line of activities on the second and third days include testimonies on the martyrs, witness accounts, film show on the Quds Day massacre, parade, recitation of special prayers and speeches.
On the fourth day (25th July, 2015), an international conference is scheduled to take place at the Sheraton Hotel, Abuja, which will feature international dignitaries of high repute.
The statement explained that the First of its kind, a renowned scholar and Chief Imam of Washington U.S.A, Imam Muhammmad Al-Asi will deliver a paper on “Al-Quds: Historical Perspective and the Significance of Marking the International Quds Day”.
A segment of the day’s event will be a symposium with a theme, “From Al-Quds to Zaria: A Melting Pot of Rights Violation, Veil of Bias and Conspiracy of Silence”, in which dignitaries from Iraq, Iran, Malaysia and London, including cream of Nigerian human rights activists will participate.
The conference will also feature exhibition on the images, sights and sounds of Zaria Quds Day massacre.
His Eminence Shaikh Ibraheem Zakzaky is expected to give a closing remark.
