The Imo State House of Assembly has constituted an investigation committee to look into fraud allegations against the Speaker, Rt Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu and some Honorable members.
Rising from the motion raised by the Member representing Isu Constituency, Hon Emeh Ikenna, the House nominated a six member committee with a mandate to unravel the veracity of the said allegations.
Other members of the committee include, Hon. Ngobiwu Celestine, Hon. Stan Dara, Hon. Acho Ihim, Hon. Obioma Ekenna and Hon. Michael Ndubuaku.
Hon. Ikenna Emeh, had in his motion, urged the House to critically look into the weighty allegations as published by a local magazine-Newsbearer and propagated by the former Media Assistant to the Speaker Mr. Samuelson Iwuoha.
He said that the investigation became necessary as the reputation and integrity of the speaker and the entire House were at stake, and as such, needs to be addressed.
It also resolved to invite the former Media Assistant to the Speaker, Mr. Samuelson Iwuoha, who is seen as the brain behind the allegations, to appear before it to explain all he knew about the allegations.
Earlier in his reaction, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu, totally debunked the allegations levied against him, maintaining that his office had hitherto foreclosed joining issues with Mr. Iwuoha in the public domain, but thanked the public for standing on the part of truth.
