Poem: Cul-De-Sac

By Chidi Anthony Opara

Phantom patriots,
Plush palace.
Slush fund,
Pantomime.

Street strolled severally,
Strolls
In cul-de-sac end,
The crusaders are the culprits.

Achy ears
Strain for soothing songs,
The strained ears
Saturated rather with sounds of scuffles.
Yet
Hope lingers,
Patriots persevere
In the precinct of poverty.

Rumble,
Mumbo jumbo.
Scrambles for jumbo bags,
Rumba,
Rumba dance.
Dance
Leads again to cul-de-sac.
