In our earlier Public Information today, we had called upon the Government of Anambra State to come to the aid of the surviving members of the Ezebula family, who lost four of its members in the July 29, 2013 deadly bomb blasts by Boko Haram insurgents in Sabon Gari, Kano State. We also demanded the mandatory presence of the Government of Anambra State at the interment of the four family members who were interred today in Uga Community of Aguata LGA of Anambra State, Southeast Nigeria. The aid we requested for included cash support, automatic employment for the wife of the late head of the family and offer of scholarship to the family’s two surviving children.
We are happy to inform that the Government of Anambra State led by Mr. Peter Obi not only attended the funeral today but also offered Mrs. Loveth Ezebula, mother of the three murdered kids a check of N1Million to enable cushion the effects of relocating from her Kano base to Anambra State. She was also offered automatic employment as an NCE holder subject to verification of her academic papers. Her two surviving children, Chukwuebuka and Anurika were offered scholarship to university level. While Chukwuebuka seeks an admission into the university, Anurika is an SS2 student of a private secondary school in their community.
We commend Governor Peter Obi and key members of his cabinet including Professor Stella Chinyere Okunna (commissioner for budget & economic planning) and Dr. Mrs. Uju Okeke (commissioner for education) for heeding our earlier calls and joining the family in mourning the tragic death of its loved ones.
