News Report: No Date Yet For Conclave

Chief of the Holy See Press Office, Rev. Fr. Federico Lombardi said today in a briefing with news reporters that no date has been fixed for the conclave. He described as unfounded, reports that St. Peter’s Basilica has been booked for 5pm next Monday for a mass for the election of the Pope.

Fr. Lombardi disclosed that 152 Cardinals were present at the morning session of the fifth general congregation today. 155 Cardinals, known as Cardinal electors are eligible to vote in the conclave.

A highlight of the morning session, according to the spokesman, was when the Dean of the College of Cardinals, Cardinal Angelo Sodano, read a telegram the College will send to Venezuela on the death of President Chavez.

The Congregation was said to have also discussed the talents, qualities and characteristics required of the next Pope.

The evening session to be known as the sixth general congregation will commence from 5 to 7 pm.
