The African Union’s New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) Agency, the Office of the UN Special Adviser on Africa (OSAA), the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the Department of Public Information (DPI) are co-organizing a series of activities to mark the “Africa Week” (15-19 October) at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on the margins of the UN General Assembly Debate on Africa.
During the “Africa Week”, the organizers will launch three publications on Africa’s development: “Africa’s Decade of Change” by the NEPAD Agency, Office of the Special Adviser on Africa, and UNECA; “Assessing Progress in Africa toward the MDGs 2012” by UNECA, the African Union, African Development Bank and UNDP; and “2012 Mutual Review of Development Effectiveness (MRDE)” by UNECA/OECD. Issues to be discussed during the launch will include ways of integrating Africa under the Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa; the implications of the RIO+20 outcomes for NEPAD and their impact on the Post-2015 development agenda; and reflections on NEPAD’s achievements and challenges over the past 10 years.
The launch will be followed by a press briefing by Dr. Ibrahim Mayaki, NEPAD CEO and the USG Maged Abdelaziz, the Secretary-General’s Special Adviser on Africa and head of OSAA.
There would be a press briefing and a reports launch co-organized by the African Union’s new Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) Agency, the Office of the UN Special Adviser on Africa, the Economic Commission for Africa and the Department of Public Information as part of activities to mark the “Africa Week” on the margins of the UN General Assembly Debate on Africa.
