News Release: Attack On Security Installations In Kano


The Inspector-General of Police, Hafiz Abubakar Ringim, CFR, NPM, mni wishes to inform the general public of the unfortunate incident in Kano, on the evening of 20th January, 2012.

There was a coordinated attack on the following security installations:
(i) Nigeria Police Zone 1 Headquarters, on BUK Road,
(ii) Zaria Road Police Station on Zaria Road
(iii) Farm Center Police Station at Farm Centre
(iv) Passport Office at Farm Centre
(v) SSS Headquarters at Gigiyu
(vi) Immigration Headquarters at Bompai Road
(vii) The AIG Zone 1 Residence at Bompai Road
(viii) Police State Command Headquarter at Bompai Road

At the moment, seven casualties have been confirmed from different locations of the attacks.
The Police have commenced investigation and therefore use this medium to call for calm
Among the residents of Kano as Police are doing their best to bring the situation under control.

The Nigeria Police is appealing to members of the public to come forward with information on the identity and location of these hoodlums. Information given will be treated with utmost confidentiality.

Meanwhile the Kano State Government has declared a 24-hour curfew after suicide blast, this declaration is in response to the multiple bomb explosions in the ancient city of Kano. One of the confirmed death is the Kano reporter with channels television Enenche Akogwu who was Killed by the attacker outside Kano State government house.
